TRANSFER APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

In order to ensure your DTF (Direct-to-Film) transfer looks professional every time, we accept all file types, though vector files are always preferred. Raster art should be at least 300 dpi for the best results.

To get started, follow these five simple steps:

  1. No Pre-Press Required: Unlike other transfer methods, DTF transfers do not require any pre-pressing. However, if you prefer to do a pre-press, feel free to do so.
  2. Position Your Design: Take your time to line up your transfer in the desired location on your item. For flat heat presses, there is no need to use heat-resistant tape to keep the transfer in place. However, when pressing transfers onto hats or using an iron, it is highly recommended to use heat-resistant tape to ensure precise positioning
  3. Press:  Apply medium pressure at 310°F / 155°C for 15 seconds. It is not possible to damage the transfer by applying too much heat, pressure or time, but it is important to be cautious as excessive heat may damage your garment. To protect your garment from direct heat, use parchment paper or a protective guard sheet.
  4. Allow To Cool & Peel: After pressing, allow the transfer to cool until it is no longer hot to the touch (minimum of 15-30 seconds). Once cool, gently peel the transfer from one corner. We at Duval Express recommend using your eyes rather than your hands when peeling, to ensure that every piece of your design is adhering properly to the item. If any part of the design does not transfer, stop peeling and troubleshoot as follows: (1.) If some or all of the design did not transfer and it was cool when peeling, increase the pressure and time by pressing again for an additional 5-10 seconds. (2.) If that does not work, try increasing the heat in increments of 15°F until you find the optimal temperature. It is important to note that you cannot damage the transfer by pressing multiple times.
  5. Final Press & Wash Instructions: For increased durability and to remove any shine, place parchment paper or a single layer of t-shirt material over the design and press again for 15 seconds. For a shiny finish, cover with a protective guard sheet during the final press. When washing your garment, turn it inside out and wash on a cold setting using low heat or hang to dry. This will ensure that your transfer remains intact and looks professional wash after wash.
  6. Accepted File Types & Resolution: At Duval Express, we accept all file types, though vector files are preferred for the best results. Raster art should be at least 300 dpi to ensure high-quality transfers.

Thank you for choosing Duval Express for your DTF transfer needs! Happy transferring!
